90th Birthday Casino Cake!

This is my biggest cake to date!  It was so heavy that I could barely lift it!  I have to give much credit to my dad who helped me tremendously on this cake.  He built the base (added a back support to the base piece) and helped me with delivery.  This cake is Vanilla with Chocolate Fudge Filling, Vanilla Buttercream and covered and decorated with fondant.  My dad thinks it was at least 40lbs.  There are about 10 or so layers of cake/filling that I carved to the shape of a slot machine.  It took a lot longer then I thought to complete but as long as the birthday girl likes it then it is all worth it!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

Two year old twin girls requested a Mickey Cake.  So I decided to use a new stand and make three separate cakes incorporating Mickey Mouse Clubhouse icons.  All cakes are Vanilla and Vanilla Buttercream and fondant/gum paste decorations.  The "Toodles Cake" is filled with cherry filling, the "Clubhouse Cake" is filled with cream cheese buttercream, and the "Mickey Cake" is filled with chocolate and crushed Oreo's.    I had a blast making this cake and the most difficult part was figuring out how to make Mickey and the archway stand up.  It took a few tries to sculpt Mickey out of fondant.

Chocolicious Birthday Cake!

This Birthday Cake is all Chocolate cake and buttercream.  The bottom tier is filled with chocolate mousse and the other 2 tiers are filled with raspberry preserves.  The border is Nonpareil candy... the birthday girls favorite!
